Why Is Ai Free?
“Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it”
-George Santayana
It is not new knowledge that Ai is a threat to society as a whole. We’ve seen it in books, movies and now…reality. And so the question i propose to you is not why Ai is bad, but why is Ai free?
What does a large successful company -such as OpenAi- who profit $10 billion in annual recurring revenue benefit from providing free access to their Ai?
It is dependence.
For reference (bear with me, this fact is necessary) during the 1990’s, Nestle had began to notice a decline in demand for their baby formula products in the US.
To solve this great issue, Nestle had formed a new project in which they would be distributing their products to mothers in Africa for free, while dressing their workers as nurses.
To ensure dependency was maintained, they had studied the length of time it takes for a mother’s breast milk to dry up.
Why you ask? because once it dries, you can not possibly bring the milk back.
This left several mothers with nothing to feed their babies but baby formula.
Baby formula which required clean water.
Clean water these mothers did not have access to!
Due to the fact that most of the mothers were illiterate, they lacked the resources and knowledge to understand the warning on the product which stated mixing the formula with dirty water could kill their babies.
And so, unbeknownst to the fact, the mothers fed the milk to their children which resulted in the death of approximately 10,000,000 babies!
You may be wondering how this correlates to the original question which is “Why Is Ai Free?” well, in the eyes of large companies such as Nestle, we are not beings, but mere consumers.
Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAi) has previously went on public records to state how he “sees a future in which intelligence is a utility”
For reference, a utility would be considered water, natural gas and electricity…
Do you hear what i’m saying now?
There are already several studies showing how extensive Ai use results in cognitive debt. Which is why it is essential we continue to read physical books (especially the banned ones), have meaningful discussions, consume challenging materials, research and learn!
And so when ChatGPT is free, it not for the sake of society, and certainly not to make life easier for everyone. Rather, they give it for free for the same reasons as Nestle.
They are waiting for our natural resources to dry up so we unknowingly create a system of dependency in which society can’t function without Ai.
That, is why Ai is free.
If you think this won’t affect you in any way. And if you think people won’t die because of this. Think again.
As of early 2026, OpenAi was paid around $200 million to collaborate with the US military to create a system of “Hyperwar” aiding the military in target and strike operations, war room advice engines and accelerated kill chains.
To sum up, it is utterly important we understand the lack of ethics and integrity there is in using Ai. It reduces gray matter and is actively attempting to take over not just our minds but our souls. Consumerism is not just a mere concept, it is an everyday act in which we practice unknowingly day in and day out.
“As long as the general population is passive, apathetic, diverted to consumerism or hatred of the vulnerable, then the powerful can do as they please, and those who survive will be left to contemplate the outcome.”
